How to read gambling bonus terms
An advertised bonus is not necessarily withdrawable cash. Its value depends on wagering requirements, eligible games, caps, deadlines and withdrawal rules.

Identify what has actually been credited
Separate your deposit, the bonus, winnings from your deposit and winnings from the bonus. An account balance may combine funds with different withdrawal rights. Check whether the offer is automatic or must be accepted before depositing.
Check eligibility, location, the covered product and the deadline. A promotion shown on an international website is not necessarily legal or available where you are. The permitted game category still matters.
Calculate the required turnover
A 20-times wagering requirement on a €50 bonus means €1,000 in total stakes before a possible withdrawal, if the multiplier applies only to the bonus. A rule based on both deposit and bonus can demand more. Read the exact calculation base.
Turnover of €1,000 is not a certain loss of €1,000, but every stake carries risk. Games may contribute at different rates: a €10 bet at a 10% contribution rate counts as only €1 towards the requirement.
Check restrictions that change the outcome
Look for a maximum stake, excluded games, minimum odds, expiry date, winnings cap and identity checks. Breaking a term may void the bonus or related winnings under the applicable rules.
Read the order in which balances are used and what happens if you withdraw your deposit. Keep a dated copy of the accepted promotion and its terms; the banner alone does not describe the contract.
Decide beyond the headline amount
Compare the cost and restrictions with an affordable leisure budget. Do not assume the required bets will be recovered, and do not increase deposits or play faster to unlock a benefit before a deadline.
If the offer demands more time or money than planned, declining it is a valid choice. Availability, local law and terms can change; check the current official version.
Translate a condition into eligible turnover
Hypothetical example: €20 bonus, wagering requirement of 30 times the bonus, game contribution 20%. Eligible turnover required is €600; if that game remains permitted and every stake contributes 20%, actual stakes would need to total €3,000. This describes a condition, not the final cost or a promised withdrawal. Also check maximum stakes, excluded games and expiry: another clause may invalidate the scenario.
Practical reference
Worked example: required turnover
Fictional example: €50 bonus, 20× wagering on the bonus alone. Turnover is total stakes, not a promised return.
| Item | Calculation | Check |
|---|---|---|
| Nominal turnover | €50 × 20 = €1,000 | Multiplier base and deadline. |
| Game contributing 100% | €1,000 in stakes | Eligibility and maximum stake. |
| Game contributing 10% | €10,000 in stakes | Actual contribution rate. |
Check the site and keep your limits
A promotion cannot replace a check of the exact domain and licence or a budget set in advance.
