Primary sources before claims

Our verification method

WORLD GAMBLING GUIDE separates legal status, commercial quality and editorial preference. None of these can be inferred from another.

Primary evidence

We prioritise regulator registers, official decisions, legislation and public-health organisations.

Domain-level checks

We match the exact operating entity, domain, product and current licence status.

Editorial review

Regulatory claims remain source-based, dated, reviewed and open to correction.

Practical guide

How to read a verification claim

A useful record shows its source, scope and review date. A licence check and an assessment of service quality answer different questions.

Primary evidence first

Regulator registers, official decisions and public-health bodies take priority over advertising, copied badges and operator statements. A source can confirm one fact without endorsing the entire offer.

Keep claims within scope

We distinguish the legal entity, exact domain, permitted product, territory and date. A land-based permission does not automatically cover an online product, and an authorisation in one country does not travel with the brand.

Correct and revisit

Rules and registers change. Readers can report a broken source, outdated domain or factual error by email. A correction should update the affected claim and its review date.

Report a passage for correction

To make a correction verifiable, include the page URL, relevant passage, primary-source link and document date. Do not send identity documents or player-account details.

Modification dates and evidence dates

The footer date describes a content change. It does not mean every licence was checked again that day. Directory consultation dates and source versions describe the available evidence. An old register does not guarantee current status.

Changes on 9 October 2026

Added the multi-account reconciliation with formula, reproducible example and limitations; practical routes on the home page; replaced advertising loading with account verification pending configured consent management. Regulatory source dates remain their consultation dates.

Images and evidence

AI-generated illustrations introduce a subject. They do not prove an on-site visit, an interview or the existence of a photographed team. Credits distinguish illustrations from documentary photographs. View image credits.

Traceability: what was compared on 6 October 2026

All 84 Ontario domains were compared with the holder and products in the register, which still reports 1 September 2026. The 16 French holders are compared with ANJ. The 16 Casino Rewards domains identify commercial membership, not local authorisations.

The 202-venue file is byte-for-byte identical to the ministry resource dated 11 August 2025. Administrative labels are preserved. Duplicate checks use department and venue, or jurisdiction and domain for online sites.

Reusing the land-venue list

The ministry dataset uses Licence Ouverte / Open Licence. Attribute the French Interior Ministry, source and file date when reusing it. The licence covers data and grants no rights to brand logos. data.gouv.fr

Check datasets as well as examples

Data checks compare every Ontario domain with its holder and products in the accessed register. All land records are inspected for duplicates, missing fields and department consistency. A working source link is not content verification.

Sources and data explains corrections and limitations. Technical checks cover all routes in three languages: referenced images, internal links, anchors, canonical, hreflang and JSON-LD.
